Although Fernando Alonso managed to climb up to top position in the F1 World Championship standings and may secure his third world championship crown in the next race in Brazil, Ferrari is prepared to fight until the final race in Abu Dhabi.
In case his main rivals don’t score at the Interlagos circuit, Fernando Alonso with an 11-point advantage over Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber can capture his third world title with a podium finish.
Still Ferrari is conscious that the job won’t be that easy as Red Bull Racing's single-lap form continues to make it the team to beat.
After Alonso’s win in Sunday’s Korean Grand Prix, Domenicali said that he is a pragmatic person and that beating Red Bull would be a tough challenge. “If they were able to do 15 pole positions in 17 races, then it is something. So they have a fantastic car”.
Scuderia Ferrari’s boss says that for him the most important thing at the moment is that his team is back on the fight for the title, despite the fantastic RB6 car. Domenicali is sure that his team will fight up until the last corner of the last race.
"This is something that has to be considered because it is a reward for the team that we are still there and with the right approach, even if we know the competition is very strong. We know that in the last two races that we cannot lose any kind of opportunity," said Domenicali.
Although Alonso now tops the standings on F1, Ferrari states that the team will stay as calm as it was when their championship challenge seemed to be heading for disaster in the beginning of summer.
"We don't change our approach," said Domenicali. "We said in Suzuka that at every race we need to be on the podium and win one race, we have won one race and now we need to keep going without any calculation and try and be focused. Then with the numbers we will see afterwards."
One thing is sure for Domenicali, the constructors title fight is going to Abu Dhabi and Ferrari will be fighting for it.
"We have two championships to fight for and for sure in Brazil we cannot win the second one," he said. "We want to go ahead, keeping the feet on the ground."
