has been shown to prevent fuel thefts. The system was originally designed to prevent people putting the wrong fuel in their car. 

The Easy Fuel system works with two spring-loaded latches in the fuel filler that only move when a normal fuel pump is inserted. When the car is locked, the latches are also locked preventing a siphoning hose from going into the fuel tank. The latches are different on diesel- and petrol-fueled cars to only allow the correct pump in. 

Fuel theft in the UK is up 25% in the past year to 4,500 cases due mostly to the higher cost of diesel and petrol. 

“Our novel Easy Fuel feature ensures that Ford owners put the right fuel in their car. Another customer benefit is that it acts as a deterrent by slowing down the fuel thief," said Andy Barratt, Ford Britain sales director.
