has confirmed the Fiesta ST for the US, and it will be on display at the LA Auto Show that opens November 28. What is even more surprising, though, is that the American version will be more powerful than the European version.
The Fiesta ST in the US will have a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine with 197hp and 214lb-ft of torque compared to the European version with 180ps (178hp) and 240Nm (177lb-ft). The car will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission in the US. The engine has 177lb-ft of torque available from 1,600rpm, and all of it is available from 3,500rpm. Still, the engine will give 34mpg on the highway.
Ford also retuned the suspension with a 15mm lower stance and faster steering ratio. There is also an electronic differential to reduce understeer during hard cornering and a three-mode electronic stability control system.
To show the car's power, the Fiesta ST will have a unique, open grill like the Focus ST, a chin spoiler, rear spoiler, rear diffuser and side sills. It will wear 17in wheels as well. The car will be offered in Molten Orange paint. Inside, the Fiesta ST will have the "sound symposer" from the Focus ST that brings the engine noise into the cabin via a sound tube at high rpms
