Fiesta ST has entered production at Ford's factory in Cologne, Germany. The latest car is the fastest production Fiesta ever made.
The latest Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 180hp and 177lb-ft (240Nm) of torque. It takes 6.9 seconds to get to 100km/h and has a 220km/h top speed. To prevent torque steer, Ford's Team RS gave the car Torque Vectoring Control and a three-speed stability control system. It gives average fuel economy of 5.9l/100km (40mpg) and 138g/km of CO2.
To offset the car from the standard Fiesta, the ST also gets a honeycomb mesh grill, rear diffuser and standard Recaro seats. It also gets SYNC - Ford's voice-activated infotainment system.
“The new Fiesta ST is a very modern performance car built on more than 30 years of fast Fiestas and a global development process. This vehicle is a significant step forward, both in terms of our proud heritage of blending a powerful engine with a dynamic chassis, and also in achieving reduced fuel consumption and emissions," said Ford of Europe's chief engineer of performance cars Juergen Gagstatter.
The second generation Fiesta ST will be the first time that the car has been available in North America later this year. It will also be sold in Asia.
