CEO Alan Mullay believes that China will eventually become an international automotive export hub, once automakers have met local demand.

"I think it's just a matter of time. Over time, all of our facilities are positioned so we can support all the markets around the world from any location," said Mullaly.

Mulally was in China to open a new Ford factory in Nanchang, China.

China is rapidly becoming a major market for Ford. Its sales are up in China 48% from January to May. Its goal is to have a 6% Chinese market share by 2015.

Its next step in China is to introduce its new commercial vehicles. It is also building an engine factory with its Chinese partner Jiangling Motors.
