Remember the Ford Start Concept that premiered at this year’s Beijing Motor? Well seems like Ford is considering a future production version of the concept car and according to Inside Line, this could be the replacement of the Ka model.
The concept car called the attention of everyone in Beijing thanks to its edgy but stylish look, bringing Ford’s vision for the future of small city cars. Rumours state that the new car is likely to be powered by a tiny EcoBoost three-cylinder engine.
So the tiny three-door car may be coming out of the shadows, but that shouldn’t happen before 2014. Until then many things might change and maybe the Start concept will only become the base for a new generation of the Ka.
The production version of the 2010 Beijing Motor Show starlet is expected to carry a price tag of $13,000 and to show up first in markets such as India, South America and China before spreading to the rest of the globe.
For its looks and style the Start would be a possible competitor of the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper.
