. The new plan also includes the launch of a new all-electric small SUV.

The new strategy announced by Ford's CEO Mark Fields is included in a $4.5billion (around £3.7billion) investment in electrified powertrains. The plan also includes the production of two new hybrid police cars and a hybrid autonomous car.

Although the engines which will get hybrid technology haven't been revealed yet, Fields said that the Mustang will have “V8 power and even more low-end torque”. The hybrid version of this iconic model will reach the market in 2020, while the plug-in hybrid Transit will be launched in 2019.

Ford is promising a revolutionary model for its first ever all-electric small SUV. Mark Fields says it will offer at least a range of 482km. During its press conference Ford also announced it is developing a wireless charging method.
