It is weird to call a £75,000 car a bargain, bu when discussing the Nissan GT-R, it is hard to describe it any other way. Nissan has been campaigning the GT-R around the Nuerburgring with progressively faster lap times. The GT-R is already faster around the 'Ring than a 911 Turbo, and Nissan is working to make it even quicker.
For 2012 Nissan is offering a Track Pack on the GT-R that cuts the car's weight by ditching the backseat and installing lighter, Recaro seats. It also gets exclusive, six-spoke alloy wheels from RAYS. To further boost on track performance, Nissan added front and rear cooling ducts to the front of the GT-R to improve braking. It claims that the ducts keep the brakes 100 degrees cooler during track use.
Nissan did not reveal how much removing the rear seats and lightening the front seats saved in weight. Expect that info closer to when the car goes on sale.
Power is exactly the same at 550PS, but Nissan claims a 2.7 second 0-100km/h time.
The Track Pack will cost £10,000 in the UK bringing the GT-R's cost there up to £84,450. The first deliveries of the cars in the UK are expected in March. There is no word yet if the same package if the package is coming to the US.
