CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed at a European press event that is planning to build a compact crossover based on the car to take on the Juke and multitude of other compact crossovers hitting the market in Europe.
The crossover will be based on the next generation Jazz/Fit that will go on sale in 2014. The crossover will be on sale before 2017. In addition to the five-door hatch and crossover, Honda will build a sedan version as well.

Honda's plan is to make the Jazz/Fit its global compact platform and wants to sell 7 million of them worldwide including all the variants by 2017. Honda has sold about 4 million of the cars this year.
It also wants to make the Civic more popular worldwide. It announced a refresh to the design in North America today and plans on "increasing the attractiveness" of the Civic in Europe as well. Honda has no plans to build a low-cost, rear-wheel drive sports coupe like the Toyota GT86Toyota GT 86 Gen.1Japan, 2012 > present14 versions
