will build a €5.3 million ($7.1 million), 3,050m² (32,830ft²) test center at the Nürburgring, which will be the Korean automakers second test center in Europe. The center will have direct access to the track.
Engineers at the new center will commute between the Nürburgring, and Hyundai's main test center in Russelsheim in the German state of Hessen.
Hyundai says that the reason for the new test location is to “improve the quality and driving performance of Hyundai’s European-designed vehicles.”
“The new Hyundai test center at Nürburgring is an expression of our intention to focus on improving the customer experience of our vehicles, such as ride and handling – an important consideration for European drivers," said Allan Rushforth, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Europe.
Of Hyundai's European models, 95% are designed, built and engineered in Europe.
Hyundai building a test center at the Nürburgring reaffirms the importance of the historic track after a tough year last year when the course had to declare bankruptcy.
