Jaguar celebrates its 75th anniversary with the XKR 75

To signal its 75th anniversary Jaguar is launching at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2 a limited edition of the XKR: the XKR 75. This exclusive model will have a limited production of 75 units and according to Jaguar Land Rover's new CEO, Dr Ralf Speth, it was developed to combine “enhanced performance, superb chassis and steering control and grip levels to inspire the driving enthusiast to explore the true potential of the XKR's capabilities.”

"The XKR 75 will provide owners with exclusivity, excitement and a hint of Jaguar's great heritage. This is a fitting way to celebrate the sporting credentials of the XK marque in the 75th year of the Jaguar name", said Mike O'Driscoll, managing director, Jaguar Cars.

For this limited edition the engineers at Jaguar increased the power and torque of the acclaimed 5.0-litre supercharged engine to 530PS and 655Nm respectively. This increases the XKR 75 performance which is demonstrated by its ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, less 0.2 seconds than the standard 510 PS XKR.

The Jaguar XKR 75 suffered some changes which include a revised suspension and handling for increased precision and agility in addition to the performance enhancements. The aerodynamics body pack was also revised to ensure the XKR 75 remains stable at high speeds and includes a different front splitter, side sills extensions, a rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler. The XKR 75 also features a computerized Active Differential Control which also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.

With a Stratus Grey finish, the XKR 75 is fitted with red brake calipers which contrast with the 20-inch gloss Vortex forged lightweight alloys with a dark technical finish and diamond turn.

With a limited production of only 75 units the XKR 75 will be available to order from July 2010 in the UK and will sold at a price of £85,500, with the deliveries starting in October.
