. A large portion of the money went to build an aluminum body shop at the Solihull. Upgrades have been made to Land Rover's painting areas, trim assembly, warehousing, and Jaguar Land Rover is building a new customer handover center. The upgrades were done over three years and employed 1,000 people.

Sales of the new Range Rover begin later in September and production began in early September. A launch event was held in London on September 6 for dealers, media and important clients. The first deliveries will begin in early 2013.

"This outstanding new Range Rover symbolizes our commitment to investing in Britain and exporting around the world, delivering class-leading performance, agility, quality and luxury in a model that enjoys iconic status in almost every market. As the UK's leading automotive investor in R&D we are proud of the work that has gone into developing the new technologies and innovations to make the new Range Rover possible," said Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO.

Land Rover will announce technical specifications and pricing for the new Range Rover at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.

Jaguar Land Rover exports roughly £8 billion in cars a year out of the UK.
