to reduce initial purchase price by €5,900. The costs for the leases vary from €79 to €142 per month depending on how long the buyer leases the battery and how long they drive each year. The leasing option will be available across Europe except for in Norway, Finland, Ireland and Baltic markets.

If leased, the batteries come with an unlimited warranty as long as it is leased, instead of that standard 5-year or 100,000km warranty.

"Our aim is to offer future LEAF drivers a variety of purchase options so they can choose what makes the most sense for them. This is especially important as we see a greater number of people expressing interest in driving the all-electric Nissan LEAF," said Paul Willcox, Nissan Senior Vice President.

Nissan is trying to give buyers as many options as possible to own a Leaf. The current purchase options are direct purchase of the car and battery; purchasing the car and leasing the battery; financing the car and leasing the battery; or leasing both the car and the battery.

Nissan sold 1,300 Leafs in Europe in March and have sold 60,000 worldwide in the car's history.
