Lotus released a very mysterious press release today about what it is bringing to the Geneva Motor Show on March 6.
The entire statement read: "Something breezy, something loud, something ice-cold, and some other interesting elements." Lotus included an image of a bald man's sunburned pate, a bikini top and a hand applying sunblock. The only other statement that Lotus made was, "Why: Because we’ll blow the roof off..."
There is no detail about what car Lotus will be revealing, but it will clearly be a convertible. There are two strong candidates for the car. The first option is the production version or an advanced concept of the next generation Elise. You can see a concept of the car in the gallery above. Lotus has previously said that it would not go on sale until 2015, but it is possible we could see a real version of the car at Geneva.
The other possibility is a convertible version of the Evora. While this is less interesting, it is a little more likely. Looking at the Evora, you can see it would be easy to remove the top targa-style and retain structural rigidity.
Let's hope that we will see a new model from Lotus in a few weeks at Geneva, rather than a reheated version of an older model.
