in Japan, and the improvements will slowly roll out across the rest of the world. The refreshed car gets a new front bumper with larger, more rectangular air intakes. The interior gets optional tan leather seats

Mazda has also improved the throttle response and retuned the brakes. Mazda says the changes to the throttle give finer control to manual transmission-equipped cars. The brake improvements change the front/rear distribution on all models and should make them easier to modulate.

The final change to the MX-5 is further differentiation between the soft top and hard top models. Mazda says it is aiming the soft top around the words "tight sports" and the hard top around the words "premium sports." The front light bezel is black versus chrome on the hard top. The hard top gets new 17in wheels, chrome interior door handles, aluminum gauge rings and an aluminum seat back bar. The soft top gets an optional "saddle tan" top. Both get new glossy dark grey trim on the interior.

It has also added a new exterior color - Dolphin Gray Mica. It replaces Metropolitan Gray Mica.

Mazda says that the new bumper, the top and 17in wheels are lighter than the previously available ones, but it has not specified how much weight was cut.
