specifically for GT4-class racing. The MX-5 GT4 produces 320hp from its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. The car qualifies for competition in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship and other series where the FIA GT4 class is accepted like the Nürburgring VLN series.

The MX-5 GT4 weighs 1000kg and uses a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters. The car has a FIA-certified roll cage and doors, front splitter, rear diffuser, dashboard, and center console and rear wing made from carbon fiber. The cars also come equipped with full data logging. JOTA plans to continue to develop the car for the rest of the season and begin delivering customer cars in early 2013. Prices start at £125,000.

The car has been developed by JOTA Sport that began racing the MX-5 in the 2011 Britcar Production GTN Championship. This season it has taken a fourth and fifth in class at the Nürburgring and JOTA's MX-5s have taken four podiums in two races this season.

“We started from the base of last year’s GT car and set ourselves the aim of finishing the 2012 season with a car that would be competitive in GT4. At this stage in the season we are very pleased with the progress and believe any team buying the MX-5 GT4 will have a potential winner ready to race," said Sam Hignett, Managing Director of Jota Group.

JOTA says that it will be available to provide support and spares to teams.
