Mercedes Radically Changing Next A-Class to Debut in Geneva

Until now the Mercedes A-Class has been a fairly boring model with stubby proportions and a tall greenhouse. Mercedes is ditching the stodgy old design for the next generation A-Class that it plans to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The new model is a tight wedge that vaguely resembles the new 1-series.

The new A-Class is meant to lure younger, more stylish buyers into the Mercedes brand. The other vehicles that Mercedes hopes to bring in hipper buyers are the new C-Class Coupe, BLK off-roader and CLC, which is a smaller CLS.

There was a point in the 90s when Mercedes was the number one automotive brand in the world, and it wants to return to that point. It hopes that this new product push will return it to such a high position in the automotive world.

Mercedes also released a video teasing the new model.

I missed this Concept twice, in Knokke, and in Brussels... Too bad, it looks nice, I am curious to see it in the flesh...

If the production car ressembles the concept, than the A-Class goes from one of the ugliest mercedes, to one of the best looking in the line-up.

The video hints that it does look pretty similar to the concept.
