Honda has announced they will launch the all-new ninth generation Civic at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Available exclusively as a five-door hatchback, Honda say that the new Civics ride and handling has been developed specifically for the European market by taking into account that European roads include a mix of fast highways and poorly surfaced country lanes. This has been achieved by increasing the wall thickness of the rear suspensions torsion bar, the diameter of the stabiliser bar and by adding new fluid-filled compliance bushings.
Honda’s Chassis Development Leader Kazuo Sunaoshi said: "Every time we visited Europe during the development of the car, we achieved significant improvements in the ride and handling, tuning the car for the local demands. The new Civic is not just an evolution. In terms of ride quality, we have taken a major step forwards, equivalent to two generations of development."
During the lead up to the Civics reveal, Honda is releasing a series of short films focusing on different stages of its development. The first one entitled ‘RIDE & HANDLING - TWO GENERATIONS AHEAD’ can be viewed below:
The new Civic is to be ready for sale in Europe by early 2012.
