The first official photos of the next generation Picanto have been released by Kia Motors Corporation. The all-new city car with a bolder, more mature and distinguished look will only have its official presentation at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, in March.
According to Kia, the new Picanto has been completely redesigned and re-engineered. It has grown in overall length and wheelbase. The goal with the new model is to make it one of the most competitive vehicles in its segment.
“In profile, new Picanto features significant sculpting and a very prominent rising character line. The result is a layering of light and shadow and this breaks up the height, giving the car a more sure-footed stance,” explained Kia’s Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer.
The new Picanto will be offered globally as a five-door hatchback, but in Europe it will also be available in a sportier three-door body style.
The engine lineup for the new Picanto will be composed by four all-new powertrains in 1.0- and 1.2-liter displacements, all producing low CO2 emissions. Depending on the markets, the next generation Picanto will also be powered by LPG bi-fuel and flex fuel engines.
The world premiere of the next generation of the Kia Picanto will take place in March 2011 at the Geneva International Motor Show.
