Next Gen GTR Due in 2018, Possibly with Hybrid

entered the market as a budget-priced world-beater but is starting to get long in the tooth. In its first year, the GT-R was as fast as a Porsche 911 Turbo911 TurboPorsche 911 TurboGermany, 2009 > present3 photos
for roughly half the price. Since then the GT-R's price has grown a little each year, although performance has been tweaked as well. Nissan is planning a new generation of the GT-R in 2018.

Development is still in the early going, and Nissan plans to benchmark the car based on the next generation 911 Turbo911 Gen.6 [991 Series]Porsche 911 Gen.6 [991 Series]Germany, 2011 > present110 versions

. It wants to beat both cars' lap time around the Nürburgring. 

The head designer hinted that the next generation could use a hybrid like the NSX, but the hybrid system might be implemented even before the second generation, if the team deems it necessary. 

In the meantime, Nissan plans to continue to develop the GT-R on the Nürburgring. In late 2013 or early 2014, the GT-R will get some refreshed styling.
