Group’s new MSB modular platform for front engine, rear-wheel drive vehicles gives some hints about the next car. For example, to balance safety and lightness the chassis will be mostly aluminum but with high-strength stainless steel portions to mitigate collisions.

The chassis will support two wheelbase lengths, and the longer wheelbase will be aimed primarily at Asia.

Porsche has already discussed its plans for future hybrid cars that will use denser battery packs and more powerful electric motors. It will also use a system that incorporates the drivetrain and navigation so that the car knows the road ahead.

Otherwise, the basic concept will remain the same. It will still carry four passengers with a central console running the entire length of the passenger compartment.

The Panamera has sold faster than Porsche expected. Over 100,000 have been sold since introduction, 25% more than first expected.
