last week it did so in a unique way that communicated the way that being social plays into the use of the car and its cutting edge technology.
The presentation combined user-generated images that were projected in three dimensions. Nissan worked with Wired and the blogs MyModernMetropolis and ItsNiceThat. Users were invited to submit photos on Facebook with the hashtags urban life, tech inspiration and the future. One person who submitted a photo will be flown to Tokyo for the Tokyo Motor Show.
Over three weeks, it collected 3,200 images from five countries. The images were stitched together into a digital mosaic of landscapes, technologies and styles.
The presentation took the audience through a virtual cityscape. The images eventually coalesced into a Qashqai that appeared on stage.
"Unveiling the next generation crossover to the world would be unthinkable without calling on the help of the two-million owners of the original model that pioneered the crossover. The Nissan Qashqai is the ultimate expression of Nissan's brand,” said David Parkinson, Nissan’s head of Social and Digital Engagement.
