Nissan presents the next generation of Patrol

Nissan presents the next generation of Patrol

The capital of the United Arabian Emirates, Abu Dhabi was the set chosen by Nissan to present the seventh generation of one of its historic vehicles, the Patrol. The new large SUV continues to build on its reputation but also comes incorporated in a new platform a new design direction, enhanced interior comfort and luxury, new V8 engines, a 7-speed automatic transmission and a new 4WD system.

This seventh generation is a result of an extensive market research that concluded that to beat its main competitors it needs "not only a brand new design direction but class-leading engine performance, greater luxury and comfort and a smart mix of new technologies".

The new Patrol generation leaves behind some of its design roughness and changes into softer lines that bring the Nissan model to modernity in terms of style. According to design director, Taiji Toyota the angled-strut motif front grille is an expression of the Patrol historic design. Toyota says that it was created with proportions that "deliver a sense of continuity with past models but give a touch of newness while enhancing the car's status level".

The interior of Nissan's SUV gets more luxurious than previous generations. The upgraded interior features more leather, polished aluminium and wood grain paneling, having in mind an increasement of comfort for the whole family.

The new Patrol is powered by the newly developed 'VK56VD' 5.6-litre V8 engine with VVEL (variable valve event and lift) and DIG (direct injection gasoline) technologies that reach a maximum power of 400hp and 560Nm of torque on the top of the range version.

As for other technologies included in the new Patrol, the large SUV incorporates the new ALL MODE 4X4 system that enables drivers to switch between four drive modes sand, on-road, snow and rock, with the flick of a switch.
