Using liquefied petroleum gas, the 1.4-liter turbo produces the same 140hp and 200Nm as when being fueled by gasoline. The system retains the petrol tank and places the LPG tank where the spare tire would usually be found. When using LPG, the engine consumes 8.6l/100km and produces 139g/km of CO2. When fueled by gasoline, it uses 6.7l/100km and produces 156g/km of CO2. Despite the higher consumption, LPG generally costs about 40% less than petrol. Using both fuels, the car has a total range of 1500km.
The LPG version requires stronger engine vales, stronger valve seats and a modified ECU.
Prices for the Zafira Tourer with LPG start at €27,050 including 19% German VAT.
