“The three new Opel entries will broaden the brand’s product lineup in China to help satisfy the increasingly diverse demands of Chinese vehicle buyers. They embody Opel’s proud heritage of German engineering and technology excellence," said Jürgen Keller, Opel's head of international operations.
Opel is hoping to boost its Chinese sales from last year when it sold 4,500 cars there. It hopes that the new cars appeal to young buyers who are interested in a brand that is still new to the country. The Insignia ST will go on sale in the next few weeks, and the Zafira Tourer and Astra GTC will go on sale in the second half of the year.
Opel has recently expanded into Israel, Singapore, Chile, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Zafira Tourer will now be available with the 1.6 SIDI Turbo from the Cascada in Europe. The 170hp and 207lb-ft of torque engine also features start/stop. It uses 6.6l/100km and emits 154g/km of CO2. It will be available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. Prices will start at €28,155 for the manual and €29,450 for the automatic, including German VAT.
