Announced on November 21, Pedro de la Rosa will take the wheel at the HRT Formula 1 team in 2012. HRT is working to be a better team next year. It has been bought by Thesan Capital and has established a new headquarters in Spain.
De la Rosa has signed a two-year contract to race for the team since Vodafone McLaren Mercedes released him from his contract.
The 40-year-old driver took his first major championship in 1990 in the Spainish Formula Ford series. In 1992, he was both European and British Formula Renault champion. De la Rosa started in Formula 1 in 1998 as a test driver for Jordan. He then started driving for the Arrows team in 1999. Last year, de la Rosa was a test driver for McLaren and competed for the Sauber F1 Team at the Canadian Grand Prix where he finished 12th.
