Peugeot-Citroën Raises Chinese Sales Target by 11%

has increased its sales target for China from 500,000 to 557,000 cars this year due to strong sales in China in the first quarter. PSA sales in China were up 31% to 142,000 cars in the first quarter of 2013. Last year it sold 442,000 cars and trucks there, up 9.2%. 

If it meets the goal, then PSA will have 4% of the Chinese auto market share by the end of the year.

at the Shanghai Motor Show and is hoping that Citroën's DS sub-brand also takes off when production begins in China later in the year. 

PSA has set of goal of having 5% of the Chinese car market by 2015, compared to 3.5% in 2012. To increase sales, PSA is adding 100 new dealerships this year split between both brands. Its wider goal is to have 50% of its sales come from outside of Europe by 2015. Currently, 62% of its cars are sold within Europe.
