Porsche is being very sneaky. In a press release on November 3, it discussed the cars that it plans to bring to the LA Auto Show on November 16. Along with the American debut of the new 911 Carrera, Porsche said that there would be, "the world premiere of a model boasting impressive performance and dynamic looks, exuding unadulterated driving pleasure."
Porsche gave no hints about what the world premiere will be but there are two good possibilities. The most likely candidate would be the 918. Porsche took 2000 orders for its new supercar last year, and it would be about time to show the production car to the public.
Equally likely would be the Cajun compact SUV. Porsche recently broke ground on the car's factory. It plans to start producing the car in late 2013 so it might be a little too soon to show it off, but California loves it luxury SUVs so it would be the right place.
The other less likely possibility is that Porsche will bring the car that it is developing to sit between the 911 and the 918.
The least likely option could be the sub-Boxter car that Porsche is supposedly developing. Autoblog speculated that it could use a 1.9 liter flat four.
The smart money is on either the 918 or Cajun. The LA Autoshow is historically less important that the Detroit Auto Show, and it would be surprising for Porsche to show a car that no one has seen at a place that is not going to have as much press as it could get a few months later in Detroit.
Porsche will debut the new Carrera to America at the show with its 350 hp (257 kW), 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine and the 911 Carrera S with 400 hp (294 kW) from a 3.8 liter displacement.
Porsche said that it will also have the hybrid versions of the Cayenne and Panamera at the LA Auto Show.
