Porsche has released details of a new big brother for the Cayman S; the Cayman S Black Edition.
Most notably, the Black Edition will feature an enhanced version of the Cayman’s 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine - with horsepower increased by 10 for a total of 330 hp at 7,400 rpm. The extra juice makes the Black Edition one-tenth of a second faster to 100 km/h over the standard Cayman S, with the sprint now taking only 5.1 seconds instead of 5.2 when the six-speed manual gearbox is selected. With the PDK transmission, the 100 km/h spring takes only 5.0 seconds, and with launch control even less; 4.8 seconds. Top speed is also increased by 2 km/h to 279 km/h on the manual and 277 km/h with the PDK.
Besides the obvious black colour scheme – which extends from the wheels to the dashboard trim to the gear lever – the bigger wheels are another noticeable aesthetic change. These are now 1 inch bigger and half an inch wider than those on the Cayman S. Other upgrades include Bi-Xenon headlights, an anti-dazzle interior, a Sport Design steering wheel and Porsche’s Sound Package Plus as standard.
500 units of the Cayman S Black Edition will go on sale in July for a 67,807 euro price in Germany.
