R division created for Volkswagen sporty cars

Volkswagen AG has officially created the Volkswagen R GmbH, a division that will become specialized and responsible for the sporty exclusive models of the German make. This new division will have responsibilities and competencies in terms of development, implementations and sales of individualised vehicles.

The portfolio of Volkswagen R already includes the two new top models, the Scirocco R und the Golf R as well as the dynamic R Line design packages and luxurious Volkswagen Exclusive items.

The creation of this division is, according to the Volkswagen group, an answer to the increasing demand for individualized vehicles, with sportiness and exclusivety. The division will be responsible for a mid and long term programme that will increase Volkswagen’s sporty positioning.

Volkswagen R GmbH is based in Warmenau, near Wolfsburg, Germany, and has a staff of more than 350 people.
