This is not the first time that a luxury pickup truck has been attempted in the US. Lincoln tried to build luxury pickups twice. First in 2001-2002 with the Lincoln Blackwood that failed so massively that it only lasted one year. Just 3,356 were made. Lincoln tried again in 2005 with the Mark LT, which was slightly more successful. It was produced from 2005-2008. A little over 36,000 total were made. Cadillac tried building a luxury pickup with the Escalade EXT. It went into production in 2001 and started relatively successful selling 13,494 the first year. It is still in production and has sold about 2,000 each year since 2009.
