With the Range Rover Evoque entering the last phase of testing before the launch in the summer of 2011, hundreds of prototype models have been sent for trials around the globe to test under the toughest climates and conditions.
The process hasn’t been kept a secret by land Rover as ten of these prototypes have been fitted with with funky camouflage wraps by the design team in order to introduce the new car in ten key cities worldwide.
Normally prototypes receive a sober and discrete camouflage. This time around Land Rover gave its prototypes a funky look so that they are visible wherever they pass. The camouflage is a GPS mapping trail of ten key cities for Evoque, with each vehicle saying ‘Hello’ to its city.
London, New York, Sao Paulo, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Berlin, Sydney, Shanghai and Moscow are the ten cities that will be featuring on the Evoque prototypes that will be seen all around the globe. These ten vehicles represent a small proportion of the hundreds of pre-production cars that will be running over millions of miles to ensure the quality and reliability of the new Range Rover Evoque.
“The development stage is crucial in the year leading up to launching the car,” said Murray Dietsch, director of Land Rover programmes. “No stone is left unturned; we have a team of experienced and skilled engineers who will work to a tight schedule to ensure we have a top quality vehicle to offer our customers.”
When it goes on sale, the Range Rover Evoque will become the smallest, lightest and most fuel-efficient model offered by Land Rover and it will be available in 160 different countries.
