has produced a new video showing how the 326hp Leon Cup RacerLeon Cup RacerSeat Leon Cup RacerSpain, 2014 > present is built. The customer racecar will be available to customers in time for the start of the 2014 motorsport season.

“Seat is committed to customer motorsport – and the Leon Cup Racer is the answer,” said Dr. Matthias Rabe, Seat head of research and development.

The video shows how the car is built through time-lapse photography. Seat believes that the new Leon racer is a major improvement over the previous car in terms of drivability and competitiveness.

The Leon Cup Racer will be built in two versions. One will be for racing in the European Touring Car Championship and VLN series at the Nürburgring and a second version to race in the WTCC. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 326hp and 258lb-ft of torque with power going to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with an electronically controlled differential or a sequential gearbox.

The exterior gets a larger front splitter, wider wheel arches, brake-cooling ducts, a two-phase roof spoiler and rear diffuser.

The Leon Cup Racer is not exactly what the production version of the racecar will look like, but it gives a strong indication of its design. The first test drives of the car will begin in a few months.
