has made it clear it wants to launch bolder models, in addition to its traditional functional and practical models. The first step in this direction will be given in Geneva with the presentation of the VisionCVisionCSkoda VisionCCzech Rep., 2014 > 2014 concept, a preview of a new five-door coupé that is being developed by Czech brand and that is set for launch in 2016.

VisionC indicates the path that Skoda is following in the development of this new model that will fill the space between the Octavia and Superb in the brand's lineup, avoiding some of the cues that the brand is known for. Moreover, the new model also aims to increase the volume of sales in Skoda and to gain new customers.

Until the production version gets underway the design of the VisionC must still undergo some minor changes in some details and rear section. However, the silhouette and the front end should remain intact.

Many of the design cues of the VisionC, including chrome grille, stretched surfaces, well-structured ends and the triangular shaped headlights, will be used in future Skoda models.

A clear rival of this new model being developed by Skoda is the Mercedes-Benz CLA CLA-Class Gen.1Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Gen.1Germany, 2013 > present63 versions

. The model aims to provide a boost to the brand image after expanding its range with most common models.

"We think it 's time for a Skoda model that combines tradional functional qualities with a bold new direction of design to come," said Skoda's CEO, Winfried Vahland.

The VisionC is powered by a 110hp turbocharged 1.4 liter engine that can run on petrol or natural gas. According to Skoda's predictions this vehicle would have an average consumption of 3.4kg/100km of natural gas, with average CO2 emissions of 91g/km.
