Skoda Reveals More About New Octavia's Engines

Engine range is 23% cleaner than previous generation

. While the car is larger than the previous generation, the engine range for the new car has 23% lower emissions.

There are four TSI petrol engines and four TDI diesels available for the new car. 

The petrol engines all come from the VW'sVolkswagenVolkswagenGermany, 1938 > present98 models

EA211 family, and there is an average of a 22kg weight savings over the previous EA111 engines in the Octavia. 

The basic engine is the 1.2 TSI with 84hp and 160Nm that uses 5.2l/100km and emits 119g/km of CO2. It is only available with a five-speed manual. There is also a Greentec version of the same engine with 103hp and 175Nm that uses 4.9l/100km and emits 114g/km of CO2. It is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG.

The 1.4 TSI Greentec has 138hp and 250Nm that uses 5.3l/100km and emits 121g/km of CO2. It is available with either the six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic. 

The top petrol engine is the 1.8 TSI Greentec with 177hp and 250Nm that uses 5.7l/100km and emits 131g/km of CO2. It is only available with the seven-speed DSG.

The diesel engines all come from the EA288 family, which are 0.8l/100km more efficient than the engines they replace. 

The diesel engines start at a 1.6 TDI with 89hp that uses 4.1l/100km and emits 109g/km of CO2. There is also a Greentec version with 103hp and 250Nm with a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG. It uses 3.8l/100km and emits 99g/km of CO2. 

The GreenLine 1.6 TDI has 109hp and emits 89g/km of CO2 and uses 3.4l/100km. It only comes with a six-speed manual transmission. 

The 2.0 TDI Greentec is the most powerful diesel with 148hp and 320Nm. It comes with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG. It uses 4.5l/100km and emits 119g/km of CO2. 

All of the Greentec versions include start/stop.
