SLS AMG and R-Class: most popular cars in Europe

Mercedes-Benz has received three first places distinctions in Europe's largest public internet survey. The SLS AMG was the winner of two awards, with the other distinction going to the Mercedes-Benz R-Class.

This has been the ninth year that AutoScout24, Europe's largest online automobile marketplace offering around 1.8 million vehicles, has conducted an online survey to discover Europe's most popular cars. Throughout the voting period AutoScout24 received 230,000 votes from participants from seven different countries, who chose their favourites from among 343 vehicles.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was considered by a large majority of the voting Europe’s most popular car. With its unique style combined with an exquisite level of engineering the gullwing super sports car, which evokes memories of the sports car legend from the 1950s, the 300 SL, was the clear winner in the super sports car and coupé category.

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class also received the distinction of most poplar vehicle in the van and compact van category. The design and the fulfillment of the requirements of contemporary-minded, leisure-oriented people seem to have conquered the majority of voters.

In Germany, other Mercedes-Benz vehicles were also voted into the top places. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class won in the medium-size category and the E-Class in the intermediate category, while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet picked up the most votes in the cabriolet category.
