The development programme of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is coming to an end. The final step will take place in Dubai where the gullwing racecar will lineup on the 24-hour race on the 15th of January.
Thanks to the entries of three cars by the customer teams Black Falcon and Heico Motorsport, the SLS AMG GT3 will continue to accumulate test kilometers that will help fine-tune the gullwing model before deliveries begin at the end of February 2011.
In Dubai, the SLS AMG GT3s will be competing in Class A6 against high-calibre international sports car competitors. 90 cars are expected to take part of the 24-hour race on the 5.39-kilometre Grand Prix circuit of the Dubai Autodrome.
Since the start of the development and test programme, in June 2010, the SLS AMG GT3 entered in three VLN races (VLN = Association of Nürburgring Endurance Cup Organisers) in autumn 2010. The ninth VLN race was won by Thomas Jäger and Christopher Haase in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 entered by Black Falcon, and in the tenth race Bernd Schneider and Christian Mamerow (Mamerow Racing team) finished third place overall.
While the production is starting at the end of this month, deliveries of the SLS AMG GT3 are scheduled to begin at the end of February 2011 after FIA’s homologation. The gullwing race model will be sold at a price of € 334,000 (excl. VAT)/€ 397,460 (incl. 19 % VAT).
