cars that allows for increased body rigidity, lower weight and less waste. 

The special structural adhesive also has a damping effect in the chassis, which lowers cabin noise by decreasing vibrations. 

The new CTS alone uses 387 feet (118m) of the material in each car and contributes to the car being 40% stiffer than the previous generation. 

The CTS has also cut weight thanks to use of aluminum in the doors, bumpers, front strut towers, instrument panel, powertrain cradle and in certain parts of the chassis. 

“Reducing overall weight is a key element in producing a car that delivers agile handling dynamics. By rethinking very traditional elements, such as such as materials used for bumpers and doors, we are able to save precious weight and stay true to delivering a vehicle that is fun to drive,” said John Plonka, CTS program engineering manager.
