After making its first appearance at this year’s Geneva Motor Show the Citroën Survolt had its racing debut last weekend at the Le Mans Circuit. During the Le Mans Classic.
Vanina Ickx was the proud driver of the the supermini-sized rear-drive concept along the 8.47 miles of turns and straights of the classic French track. At the end of her ride the racing driver said “I am very proud to have participated in this unique project. On the track it felt really good. It’s a real race car, with a very promising potential for the future.”
Fitted with two electric motors the Survolt has a power output of 300 hp and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h. The racing car is able to accelerate from 0 up to 100 km/h in ess than five seconds. Thanks to the twin 140kg lithium-ion batteries can provide a range of up to 124 miles and can be re-charged in just two hours with a specific power supply, or in 10 hours on the standard 220 Volt network.
The Survolt is yet to have its production confirmed by Peugeot, but in declarations to Autocar, Jean-Pierre Ploué, Design responsible for Group PSA, said that the French brand has the intentions to launch a limited edition of the supermini-sized concept and to create a one-make race series.
