Two special editions of VW Touareg presented in Qatar

Volkswagen has brought to the sandy landscapes of Qatar two special editions of its Touareg model: Race Touareg 3 Qatar, a street legal version of the Dakar Rally race car and Touareg Gold Edition, a version enhanced with 24-carat gold.

The Race Touareg 3 Qatar is almost the same SUV that traveled to South America and raced thousand of miles. It was developed to bare the hard conditions of the toughest rally in the world.

The version being presented in Qatar is a slightly modified adaptation of the Race Touareg 3, which has secured authorization to drive on the streets. The Race Touareg 3 Qatar’s body was changed for road use and is fitted with new 18-inch wheels from BBS with a gold look, instead of 16-inch wheels. The vehicle received a golden “Race Touareg” signature that crosses its entire profile, on both sides.

Inside the Race Touareg 3 has suffered a major transformation, with the safety cage being the only aspect that remained intact. Volkswagen tried to keep it connected to the Race Touareg by focusing on the driving machine while creating its appearance. Besides equipping it with Recaro racing bucket seats, designers also created a so-called "Stealth look" and as a tribute to Dakar Rally, the Dakar victories are etched in the anodised aluminium of the centre console, right next to the "Race Touareg" signature.

As for the Touareg Gold Edition it is definitely a car to be parked in a very well surveilled area as it comes with certain areas upgraded with 24-carat gold. These upgrades include the custom designed 22-inch wheels, roof rails, protective guard strips and window frames, mirror caps and parts of the air intake frame, "Touareg V8" signature and boot sill trim.

The interior has also received some 24-carat gold enhancements on many of the car’s accents and switches.
