Slideshow
German driver dominated the pratice sessions and also the qualifying

Vettel beat once again all competition and secured another pole position this season, this time for the Grand Prix of India. The German driver dominated the entire session and at the end recorded a fastest time of 1m25.283s. Both Red Bull drivers secured places in the first row with Webber taking second position.

The world champion who had dominated all practice sessions at Budh circuit, left no margin for doubt who had the strongest pace in the Indian round of the F1 world championship. Yet the driver showed a slight vulnerability  his rivals when he made a mistake on Turn 7 on Q3. Vettel would redeem himself with the fastest time on his second attempt and remained on track until almost the end of qualifying until he was sure he had conquered pole position.

His main rival in the championship, Fernando Alonso, will start from fifth position behind the two McLarens of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. His teammate will start from sixth place. Kimi Raikkonen and Sergio Perez will occupy the fourth row on the grid in seventh and eighth position.

Pastor Maldonado had complained to his team during practice of lack of pace in his Williams but still managed to come ninth ahead of Nico Rosberg who occupied the last place in the top 10.
