Vettel retunrs to wins and hands title to Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel cruised to his tenth win of the season in Korea to hand over the second constructors’ title to his team Red Bull.

Starting in first row behind Hamilton, Vettel overtook the McLaren driver right on turn 4 of the first lap, making a gap between the two, which grew up to four seconds until Vitaly Petrov wiped out Michael Schumacher, forcing the safety car to enter the track while some debris was cleaned. But when the race continued, the German recovered his advantage and went on to win the race with an 11 second margin over Hamilton.

Webber was third in Korea and throughout the race he closely followed Hamilton, never by more than 1.5 seconds. His margin was closed down on the second half of the race in what would be a good fight until the end.

After the last visit to the pitstops, Hamilton was still ahead as both drivers stopped on the same lap. At that point Webber looked faster than the McLaren driver and after some side-by-side corners on lap 34 he managed to overtake his opponent as there were still five laps to go.

Thanks to the superior traction of the MP4-26, and by using all his KERS and DRS at the same time, Hamilton managed to recover his position just a few seconds later on the long run down to Turn 3. He would then secure that position until the end of the race.

Jenson Button fell into 6th behind the two fast starters Massa and Alonso . With a slow pace from Felipe Massa, Rosberg closed up to make it a four-way battle for the position, with the first visit to the pits closing up. In that situation, Alonso opted to give up on the fight and pitted, with both Button and Rosberg following him on lap 14.

Rosberg came out first, and although they both run side-by-side through pitlane, the would end up surrendering and handing over the position failing on the brake. Thanks to the DRS Rosberg would recover the position but only managed to secure it for an extra lap.

At this point Felipe Massa was falling behind and would eventually be overtaken by his team-mate on the second visit to the pits. A couple of fast laps on old rubber would give advantage to the Spaniard.

Button and Alonso ended the race in fourth and fifth, followed by Massa.

Toro Rosso conquered more points in  Korea with Jaime Alguersuari finishing an impressive 7th. The Spaniard overtook Nico Rosberg on the last lap after a couple of unsuccessful earlier attempts. Sebastian Buemi also finished in the points, making it a very good weekend for the Italian scuderia.

In the last points position finished Force India’s Paul di Resta , ahead of his Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil.
