Volvo’s SPA platform uses five modular sections.  The chassis section ahead of the A-pillar is standardized and will be the same size on all cars, although the actual length of the car will depend of styling. The platform has been created to support turbocharged four-cylinder engines, which Volvo will focus on in the future. It supports conventional, mechanical all-wheel drive and hybrid all-wheel drive with electric motors mounted on the rear axle.
