Volvo Opens Safety Center in Beijing

has opened a new safety center in Beijing called the China-Sweden Research Centre for Traffic Safety. The center will also be operated by the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, the Chinese Ministry of Transport's Research Institute of Highway and Tongji University in Shanghai. The center will be run by Hans Nyth, Volvo's head of safety at Volvo. 

The center's goal will be improve traffic safety in Sweden and China and exchange technology between the countries. It will also help the Chinese government on policy decisions regarding traffic safety.

"Volvo Cars is very proud to be a partner in this project. We have a history of commitment to continuous traffic and vehicle safety improvement and we are a global market leader in this area," said Volvo President Peter Mertens.
