Volvo is releasing a new 2.0l, five-cylinder diesel engine for 2013 across most of its model range that will offer emissions below 120g/km of CO2 on nearly every car.
The new engine will be available in four configurations called D2 with 115hp, D3 with 136hp, D4 with 163hp and the D5 with 215hp. It will be available on the S60, V60, XC60, V70 and S80. All versions of the engine have start/stop tech, except on the XC60 D3 with an automatic transmission. Manual cars have emissions as low as 114g/km of CO2 on some models or as high as 126g/km of CO2 on the V70 D5. The D2 tune of the engine has the same fuel economy and emissions regardless of transmission on the S60, V60, V70 and S80.
All of these Volvo models have a new, optional features that include displaying Road Sign Information, which displays road signs on the instrument cluster, Active High Beams, which automatically turn the high beams on or off depending on the situation, and Tunnel Detection that automatically turns on the headlights in a tunnel.
Volvo says that the new engine and options will be available in the summer of 2012.
