Volvo Receives Permission to Build Cars in China

has received permission from the Chinese government to build factories in Daqing, Zhangjiakou and Chengdu.

The Daqing factory is currently under construction, and the first production cars are scheduled to leave the factory in 2014.

Zhangjiakou will be established as an engine factory this fall to deliver engines to the already operational factory in Chengdu.

Like all foreign automakers in China, Volvo will operate the factories as a joint venture. Volvo will own 30% of the factories, and Volvo’s owner GeelyGeelyGeelyChina, 1986 > present5 models
