Webber raced four rounds with shoulder injury

Mark Webber has revealed that he raced the last four legs of the 2010 Formula One Championship with a fractured shoulder. The Aussie suffered this injury after a mountain bike accident ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

At the time Webber was the leader of the championship and kept his injury secret from his team and revealed it to the public in a new book he has just published.

According to the Red Bull driver he suffered the injury after colliding with a friend. Webber was back on a mountain bike for the first time since he broke his leg and fractured his shoulder in a crash in Tasmania at the end of 2008.

Webber revealed in his book, “Mark Webber Up Front”, that in order to drive his RB6 he had to receive pre-race injections to overcome the pain caused by the shoulder fracture.

In his book Webber says: "On the Sunday morning before (the Japanese Grand Prix weekend at) Suzuka, I got on a mountain bike for the first time since my accident in Tasmania at the end of 2008.”

"I was riding with a great friend of mine. Suddenly, he crashed right in front of me and I had nowhere to go but straight through the ears of the horse! I suffered what they call a skier's fracture to my right shoulder.”

Webber also writes that he was very thankful that the weather gave him the opportunity to rest an extra day, as Suzuka is a very demanding track.

Webber went on to finish in second place behind his team-mate Sebastian Vettel at the Japanese Grand Prix and in the next round of the championship in Korea he crashed out after losing control of his car in the wet conditions.

At the end of the season he also lost the title to his team-mate at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
