Production of the all-new Q3 compact SUV at the SEAT factory in Martorell, Spain, began in June 2011. The Q3 was the first Audi vehicle ever built at the facility with an annual production of around 100,000 units of the Q3 planned.
Production of the Q3 at the Martorell plant created 700 new jobs, and all staff involved in the process completed a 176 hour course to prepare for the challenge. The plant received a new body shop for the Q3’s production which features 450 robots designed especially for the Q3 on a 30,000 square metre site.

The Audi Q3 is a five-door coupe crossover built by Audi launched commercially in 2011. The crossover is more a lifestyle/sports car, rather than for the family/off-road market, a share of market which the Q5 and Q7 aim at.
The Q3 will slot above the expected Audi Q1. The car is based on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform of the Volkswagen Golf Mk5, which it shares with the Volkswagen Tiguan/SEAT Tribu small SUVs.
