Honda introduced the seventh generation Civic in September 2000 and started its production the following year. In 2003, a hybrid Honda Civic version was also made available, along with a special ‘30th Anniversary Edition’ of all Civic variants to celebrate 30 years of Honda Civic production. A ‘Sport’ sedan version was added to the line-up in the same year.
The Civic’s front end received an important restyling in 2004. In 2005 the North American market saw the introduction of a ‘Special Edition’ Civic model by Honda US, while Europe received a rather futuristic-styled ‘Sport’ hatchback edition.
Honda had the 7th generation Civic cars being produced at the company’s factories of Japan, United States (in the state of Ohio), Canada, England, Brazil, Taiwan and Pakistan.

The hybrid version of the Civic introduced in 2003 was given a 1.3-liter gasoline engine that works together with auxiliary battery-powered electric motors, resulting on a combined 93 hp output. The 2005 ‘Sport’ hatchback was available with 1.4-liter (81 hp) and 1.8-liter (138 hp) petrol engines, as well as a 2.2-liter (138 hp) diesel engine.
Available transmissions comprise a standard 5-speed unit, plus optional 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions for most of the variants. Higher trim level variants could also be acquired with a CVT (continuous variable transmission) system.

The car kept nearly the same overall dimensions of its predecessor, but was given an increased cabin space. The 2004 facelifted Civic model was given new headlamps, grille and front bumper.
