Lexus IS (Japan, 1998-present)

Produced since 1998, the Lexus IS is a series of entry-level luxury cars / compact executive cars sold by the Japanese luxury brand. Since the start of its production the IS was built in the sedan, hatchback, estate and convertible variants.

The IS was introduced in Lexus portfolio as an entry-level sport model slotted below the ES. In Japan the IS was originally sold under the Toyota Altezza nameplate until the introduction of the Lexus brand and the second generation Lexus IS design in 2006.

The third generation Lexus IS reaches the markets by summer 2013.
